Each game was made in response to a specific need, seen either in a young child, an older child struggling to learn to read, or with an adult learning English as a second language. They have been written during the course of many years teaching children of all ages and adults to read using phonics. The author anticipates the pitfalls, the bits that learners get hung up on and the games help to ease the student over the hurdle onto the next step in their reading progression. They are suitable for use with all phonic programmes, including Letters and Sounds (UK), Read, Write Inc.... (Ruth Miskin) and Jolly Phonics. Games allow instant feedback to the teacher and allow for immediate opportunities to remedy mistakes and to provide encouragement, all in a fun relaxed setting where the pupil will not even realise they are learning! In this way they have helped many children including older reluctant readers. They are not babyish and can be adapted with the use of a dice to appeal to all. Phonics games take the drudgery out of learning to read and spell! Please click on the phonic sound below: Initial Sounds phonics gamesCVC Words phonics games
